OTG rantings
OTG=off the grid.
What does it mean to go off the grid?
Recently I've heard some youngsters say 'i'm going off-grid' which to them means they're either off facebook, or on airplane mode. I mean wtf - turning off your phone!! is 'going off the grid'.... gimmee a break! since when? do millenials really rule the world? i thought it was new yorkers.
let's get a grip here young'uns: going off the grid refers to the electricity grid - and sometimes it means getting away from the 'man' - as in the fuzz, the NSA, and nowadays any and all tech companies. Lately the moniker OTG has as many meanings as a twitter ranting - it's in the eye of the beholder. Sure, go off grid by turning off your facebook - while you're at it maybe you want to black out your web cam, your phone cam, your location settings, all your history setting, on and on ad naseum...and they'll monitor you anyway.

I enjoy my life beyond OTG. I have only one bill: my phone. It's way more powerful that the star trek communicator, than Apollo 13's entire space capsule - and it can even help you make coffee.
It's a fine line between adopting and adapting technology. For me it's all about 'appropriate' tech. WTH is that? somedays its all appropriate, others its all totally inappropriate.
Is Alexa or Google Assistant appropriate? Is an Xbox or PS appropriate? who's counting? me and you... there's only so much inconvenience i'll put up with. I want warmth in the winter and coolth in the summer. I want my food to not spoil and stay good longer. I want music when I want it and different tunes for different moods. same goes for videos.
I want it all, and I want it yesterday.
